There is a wide variation in natural color – from the most silvery “A” types to the orange “D” types that affects the choice of process as well as the final result. Better-colored skins usually are dressed with optical brightening but also yield a rich color when dyed. Very poor colored skins can be done crystal (a bleach and dye process, during dress or after) that yields a very dramatic effect.
