It is important that your pelts are properly prepared for shipping. Quality results cannot be derived from improperly handled merchandise. Here are the necessary instructions to help you prepare and preserve your skins for shipment.
Freshly received skins should be scraped free from grease and fat, the lips skinned, the ears turned and then salted. Salting is very important, and it should be done carefully, making sure that every part of the pelt is covered, avoiding pockets or wrinkles where moisture can stay trapped and promote bacterial growth. Pelts should be preserved at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight or sources of heat, usually for a period of 7 to 10 days, after, shake off excess salt and allow to fully dry.
We appreciate any identification tags, but we will subsequently remove them for dressing purposes and needle stamp the pelts with a corresponding number.
